A Tour of 18th Century Birmingham

£13.50

In 1923, using historical records, Birmingham born stained glass artist Bernard Sleigh, produced an extraordinary, three dimensional, aerial picture map of Birmingham town as it was in 1730. His attention to detail is quite remarkable and the map not only shows the streets, lanes and yards of old Birmingham, but also features of every building, details like cherry orchards in New street, the brand new St. Phillips church standing in fields on the edge of town, boys fishing in the river Rea in Digbeth, and cattle grazing in the riverside meadows.

With the wonders of modern technology, and some painstaking research, we have combined Sleigh’s incredible images with an informative and entertaining narration to produce an amazing virtual DVD tour of Birmingham as it was in the 18th century.

Running time approx 40 mins.
