Royal occasions always attracted the film makers and their footage captures excited scenes in St Helens for the visits of Princess Margaret in 1950, and the Queen in 1954.  Last but not least we St Helen’s celebrating two special events in its history; the centenary in 1968 of the town charter, and the 150th anniversary, in 1979, of the Rainhill Locomotive Trials.
